Clergy appointments announced

A number of new clergy appointments to parishes took effect last month while several priests due to retire have agreed to continue for varying periods.

In the Adelaide Cathedral parish, Fr My Tran is assisting Fr Maurice Shinnick.

Fr Michael Trainor has been appointed parish priest of Lockleys and will continue his other ministries including his work for the Australian Catholic University, teaching theology for renewal and his involvement in interfaith initiatives.

Fr Joseph Wales Raja George has been appointed assistant priest to Fr Anthony Adimai SdM and the Hectorville parish team. The Hectorville parish will support the parish of Greenacres/Walkerville for the first four months of 2019.

Fr Tony Densley will continue as parish priest of Albert Park/Pennington for a further two years while Fr Leon Czechowicz will remain at Clearview/Kilburn for another 12 months.

Fr Michael Brennan will continue as parish priest of Emmaus parish for a further two years with the support of Fr Bob Wilkinson.

Fr John Herd will undertake a teaching assignment in East Timor until April. He has organised supply priests for the Murray Mallee Border parish.

Fr Selva Raj Leenaiah and Fr Jack Otto SJ have been appointed as assistants to Fr Josy Sebastian MSFS at Noarlunga Seaford parish.

Fr Vinnal Raj Antonyadimai is the new assistant priest to Salisbury parish, supporting Fr Shibu Jacob MSFS and team.

Following the appointment of Fr Paul Fyfe SJ as parish priest of Kings Cross in Sydney, Fr Chris Jenkins SJ will take up the position of parish priest of Sevenhill after Easter.

Fr John Mbaraka has been appointed parish priest of Yorke Peninsula.
