Action must follow Summit: Coleridge

Action must follow whatever happens at the Summit on the Protection of Minors being held at the Vatican this week, says Australian Catholic Bishops Conference president Mark Coleridge who is in Rome for the important meeting of bishops from around the world.

A special meeting of the presidents of bishops’ conferences in Rome next month, convened by Pope Francis to discuss child sexual abuse, will include a penitential liturgy and testimonies of survivors.

Gun-running under fire

The lucrative supply of weapons to Muslim countries which is sanctioned and encouraged by Western and Russian governments has been described as “institutionalised gun-running on an extraordinary scale” by Australian priest Fr Robert McCulloch.
