Founded in 1899, the school was established by the Dominican Sisters of Cabra after Fr Patrick Aloysius Enright, the parish priest of the Port Adelaide Mission, saw that there was a need for a school which could offer the families of Le Fevre Peninsula a comprehensive religious and academic education.
Dominican School has remained dedicated in its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.
To commemorate the significant milestone, the school invited old scholars, current families, staff, and friends to join in the festivities. The celebrations kicked off with the ‘Back to Dominican Afternoon High Tea’ that invited guests to tour the school, take a walk through memory lane in the Convent Museum and indulge in delicious treats while reminiscing about cherished memories.
Dominican old scholar, William Lawless, expressed his gratitude stating: “I was impressed with the beautiful learning environment that you have created and particularly impressed with the confidence and assurance expressed by my student guides on the day.”
Kate Lawless from the class of 1953 said the tour through the school and convent museum was “a wonderful success”.
Following the High Tea, the spotlight shifted to the much-anticipated Gala Ball, an evening of sophistication and glamour. Attendees were treated to a night of good food, entertainment and dancing, all set against the backdrop of the school’s illustrious history.
“These events are not only a celebration of Dominican School’s legacy but also a tribute to the countless individuals who have contributed to its success over the past 125 years,” said principal Angela Scodella.
“We will cherish the opportunity we’ve had to welcome and reconnect with our extended Dominican family. Together, we have honoured our past, celebrate our present, and embrace our future.”
