More worshippers allowed for Christmas Masses

Under the latest update to COVID-19 restrictions, Catholic churches in South Australia will be able to welcome more people to Christmas Mass services with one person per two square metres allowed from Monday December 14.
Archbishop Patrick O’Regan has written to clergy, Religious and parishes after further clarification for places of worship was obtained from SAPOL and SA Health.
Information provided includes:
- Places of worship have a density requirement of 1 person per 2 sqm.
- Funerals are capped at 200 people and requiring 1 person per 2 sqm.
- Weddings are capped at 200 people and requiring 1 person per 2 sqm. The digital contact tracing form is still required.
- COVID Safe check-in is still required.
Church-goers are being encouraged to check with their parishes about booking requirements for Christmas Masses.
Christmas Eve carols and midnight Mass in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral will be replayed on Channel 44 at 11am on Christmas Day.
Archbishop O’Regan thanked parishes and communities for their continued efforts in helping to keep our communities safe.
