Lent may have ended, however it’s not too late to make a donation to the annual Project Compassion Lenten Appeal.

At the end of April Caritas Australia announced that so far it had raised more than $3.5 million nationally, with donations for the 2019 appeal accepted until the end of June.

Local Caritas director Angela Hart said money received from the Adelaide Archdiocese to date was just over $245,000 but many schools and parishes had yet to forward their contributions. She said the final figure for the amount raised wouldn’t be known until mid-July.

“Once again we’ve received wonderful support from the Catholic community,” Ms Hart said.

“This year the theme for the appeal is ‘hope’ and the money raised through Project Compassion will help Caritas Australia to continue to provide ‘hope’ by transforming lives, strengthening the resilience of international communities and contributing to peace and stability in the world.”

To donate to Project Compassion go to www.caritas.org.au/projectcompassion or call 1800 024 413.
