Catholic Schools Open Week returns in August

Selecting a school is one of the most important decisions a family will make. Fortunately, Catholic Schools Open Week provides a chance to see firsthand what Catholic education has to offer.
From 17 to 23 August 2026, families are invited to visit Catholic schools across metropolitan and regional South Australia as they open their doors to host more than 50 tours, classroom visits and community events. It is a chance for families to experience each school’s unique culture and learning environment.
Whether choosing a school for the first time or considering the next stage of your child’s education, Open Week is an opportunity to meet staff, explore facilities and ask the questions that matter most to your family.
Dr Neil McGoran, executive director of Catholic Education South Australia, said visiting schools in person gives parents a clearer understanding of which environment will best support their child.
“Every child is unique, which is why it’s important for parents to explore their options and find a school that reflects who their child is at their core,” Dr McGoran said.
“Catholic Schools Open Week provides families with the opportunity to visit our schools, engage with principals, educators and students, while experiencing the learning environment and communities that support our students to thrive academically, socially and spiritually.”
More than 58,000 students attend Catholic schools across South Australia, supported by over 9,500 dedicated staff. Every school offers its own community while sharing a commitment to high-quality learning, strong relationships and the wellbeing of every student. Families are encouraged to take advantage of Open Week and discover the school that’s the right fit for their child.
A number of schools will host events, including St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, Millicent, Nazareth Catholic Community, St Therese School, and Compass Catholic Community.
Open Week activities vary by school, with some hosting scheduled events and others offering personalised tours on request. Families are encouraged to visit the CESA website to find more information on participating schools and to book a tour.
