Print article

Enrichetta had only one Christian name but was known as Rica by her family, Aunty Rica and Aunty Ric by her nephews and nieces, Ricci by her workmates, and later Erica by her parish family and many friends.

Rica was born in Daone, a village in Trento in the Italian Dolomites the second child to Giacinta and Frederico Litterini who arrived in Australia in 1936 and settled in Tanunda where Rica became a dressmaker in great demand.

Rica married Rizieri Mario Venuti (Reg) at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in 1952. Children followed with the family later moving to Pooraka where they attended St Anthony’s Church until it was demolished and the Good Shepherd Church became the parish home.

Rica was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years, a Eucharistic Minister and on the cleaning roster with Reg until he passed away in 1990.

Rica became a grandmother and then a bisnonna (great grandmother) in 2011 when Mia Jade Molloy was born.

Rica was a great craftswoman and crochet was her passion. She was a member of the Enfield Baptist Friendship Centre for many years, and also recently a part of the Catholic Women’s League where she donated many of the crochet baby blankets she made.

When Rica saw a need she would step in and do whatever it took and supported many children for decades through World Vision. She was devoted to her faith, saying four Rosaries every day and at 3pm each day she would stop and say her special prayers. She was still saying a rosary up until a week before she passed away.

A parishioner for 63 years, Enrichetta died at 99 years, three months, one week and one day old.
