Catholic school students shone brightly at the recent Wakakirri SA Story-Dance Festival.
St Augustine’s Parish School Salisbury won the ‘Environmental Action Story’ State award for their dance-story exploring Aboriginal connection to the land which can inform action for the climate. The school was also nominated for a national Wakakirri award.
Year 5/6 students from Rosary School, Prospect, were also nominated for a national award and won the ‘Cultural Celebration Story’ State award.
The dance squad from Our Lady Queen of Peace School, Albert Park, won the ‘Mental Health Story’ award as well as the coveted ‘Spirit of Wakakirri’ award which recognises students for their great behaviour, teamwork on the day (on and off stage), as well as the encouragement they gave to other schools who were also performing on the evening.
