New playground opened

The 40th anniversary of the School of Nativity at Aberfoyle Park has got off to a good start with the opening of a new playground at the end of Term One.
A liturgy marking the opening of the $750,000 redevelopment, which includes electronic signage and a new place space, was held on April 12.
Funded by the school, the play space replaces a 30-year-old Early Years playground consisting of a sand pit, monkey bars, slide and climbing frame.
It was designed and created by Brown Falconer architects, DesignWell Landscapes architects and Dirtwork Landscapes after consultation with students on what they would like to see in the new playground.
One of the student requests was that the playground be for all year levels.
The redevelopment includes a new entrance to the school with a ramp and stairs, a very tall cubby, swings, trampolines, climbing apparatus, two sand and water play areas plus designated areas where children can sit and chat.
Seating areas offer the opportunity for class prayer outside in nature and there are trees and plants scattered throughout with different walking surfaces.
