Change of venue for Schools Music Festival

Schools

This year’s Catholic Schools Music Festival is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. The annual festival will move from its traditional venue at the Adelaide Festival Centre, which is under redevelopment, to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

The shift means more than 2000 students from 62 schools will perform over two nights instead of the usual four, with capacity for a choir of 800 students and supporting acts on stage.

Festival coordinator Samantha Taylor said the “massive” stage would be built over three days and would provide a “spectacular sight”.

She described the festival, which is in its 29th year, as a “journey” with rehearsals beginning early in the year.

Ms Taylor said while the festival was always well-supported by parents, family and friends of students, it was also a great night’s entertainment for members of the public. This year’s catchphrase ‘Hear Us’ invites you to enjoy an evening out with Adelaide’s future entertainers.

The 2017 festival will be held on Tuesday September 19 and Wednesday September 20 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre from 7.30-9.30pm. Tickets (A Reserve $35, B Reserve $30) go on sale through Ticketek from mid-August. For further information, visit www.premier.ticketek.com.au or call 13 28 49.
