From the South East to the Murray Mallee, Yorke Peninsula to metropolitan suburbs… parishioners throughout the Adelaide Archdiocese are embracing technology to share their resources.

Since the Find a Mass App was launched last year it has proved a popular way for parishes to inform their communities about local news and events, while also being a source of information for Mass times in South Australian churches.

Likewise, Catholics seeking details about the Archdiocese’s renewal process are turning to their mobile phones and tablets to find out the latest happenings through the monthly Renewing! e-newsletter.

Produced by the Office for Renewing Parishes, the free e-newsletter is sent via email and includes brief articles and timely resources, many featuring short videos.

Deacon Tim Grauel, who helps collate the e-newsletter, said it had been well received since its inception in 2016.

“Renewing! is a contemporary means of linking parishes to one another, a kind of Central Market for sharing innovative ideas, promoting stories of hope and promise, where parishes help other parishes,” he said.

“The e-newsletter reinforces the renewal approach in the Archdiocese, which is less about program directives from a centralised office and more about facilitating healthy interaction between parishes, each with unique expressions of renewal.”

Deacon Grauel said a survey of subscribers in March was “strongly positive”, with comments including: ‘I love the variety and enjoy seeing what else is happening in our Archdiocese’; ‘Renewing! helps to keep us on track and keep the inspiration flowing’.

“Each person in the Archdiocese can be considered a ‘correspondent at large’, spotting signs of God’s Spirit at work and passing on information to us so we can share it in Rewewing!,” he added.

While its 700 subscribers come primarily from among parish and school leadership teams, Deacon Grauel stressed that anyone can ask to be put on the mailing list.
