Plenary Council local coordinator Sarah Moffatt said COVID-19 had thrown many unexpected challenges in 2020, including the postponement of the first assembly of the Plenary Council until October 2021.

“The ongoing nature of our discernment has been a pivotal part of the Plenary Council process and there are plans for our own Archdiocese as we journey to the Plenary Council and beyond,” Ms Moffatt said.

“Archbishop O’Regan and the local coordination committee have outlined a plan to host a Diocesan Assembly next year, prior to the Plenary Council, and have called for the reengagement of a Diocesan Pastoral Council.

“To reignite this journey, members of parishes and those interested in our journey to the Plenary Council are invited to a forum this month.”

Archbishop Tim Costelloe, chair for the Plenary Council, recently described the process of discernment and deep listening as “the call and challenge given to us by the Spirit”.

He highlighted the ongoing nature of discernment at a personal, local, diocesan and national level. His paper and a short video can be found at
www.plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au.

The forum, Plenary Council – Journey to October 2021 and Beyond, will be held on October 29 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Thebarton Community Centre, corner of South Rd and Ashwin Parade, Torrensville.
