The Port Road outlet follows the opening of a Vinnies shop at Whyalla Westland Shopping Centre in April but the closure of Torrensville and Hindmarsh stores.

Located near the corner of Queen Street (next to Officeworks), the new Croydon shop has 265 square metres devoted to pre-loved treasures including men’s, women’s and children’s clothing; accessories such as jewellery, shoes and handbags; homewares, bric-a-brac, books, DVDs and sporting goods.

A new band of volunteers has been recruited to work in the shop, alongside a number of volunteers who moved from the Hindmarsh shop which closed last month.

Proceeds from shop sales support Vinnies to assist more than 135,000 South Australians each year through its Migrant and Refugee Centre, Fred’s Van meal service, Men’s Crisis Centre in the Adelaide CBD, Women’s Crisis Centre (which also accommodates children and pets), and a home visit program that supports people in need with material assistance and a listening ear.

The Croydon shop is open 9.30am to 5pm weekdays, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
