The Easter Vigil Mass was a special time for 30 new members of the Adelaide Archdiocese who received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Communion in their parishes. Nine catechumens from the Adelaide Cathedral parish were baptised by Archbishop Patrick O’Regan in St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral. Another two candidates were received at the Mass after participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program.
The season of Lent is a time for reflection on the gospels, renewal and conversion of mind and heart to a gracious God who desires to come close to us. This God, as shown to us by Jesus, is full of compassion and tenderness, slow to anger and rich in mercy.
Our recent celebration of Christmas and the Christmas season was a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the awesome mystery of God choosing to come among us as the most fragile of human creatures; a child, totally dependent, like us, for his survival, growth, safety, protection and wellbeing, in the care of his parents, Mary and Joseph.
