Born from Kildare student feedback, this vibrant space reflects their passion for Café Culture, a subject introduced to Year 10 in 2023 to give students the opportunity to enhance their culinary skills and make dishes fit for a cafe.

The subject had one class in each semester in its inaugural year and has become a popular elective subject also offered in Year 11.

Its popularity saw the subject grow to five classes for 2024, and six classes for 2025 with more than 100 students engaging in Café Culture.

Upgraded over 2024, the café is an exciting addition to the college’s facilities, bolstering the Food and Hospitality area with its two large kitchens and a theory space.

Students have the ability to work in a ‘cafe-like’ setting with expansive benches, bar stools, table settings, commercial coffee machines and a servery.

The café will also serve as a platform for community events, student-led initiatives and projects, encouraging a sense of ownership and responsibility.

“Kildare College is a student-centred school,” said principal Tina Neate.

“Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to give them the best all girls’ education possible, responding to their developing needs.”

“This café is an example of how we work together with our community to provide a quality education for our students.

“By listening to the voices of our students and incorporating their ideas into the design and implementation of this innovative space, we are confident that the café will become a catalyst for academic excellence, collaboration, and personal growth.”
