Participating in the SALA (South Australian Living Artists) Festival, the school hall was transformed into Gabriel’s Gallery with a range of colourful artwork connecting with the theme of ‘Resilience, Peace and Hope for the Future’.

The centrepiece artwork was created by student Adrian Estrellente who depicted the theme by using elements such as a fence and a hand representing the “individuals who are in crisis or live in burden”.

“The hands escaping from the fence depict the support that is often given to those in need,” Adrian explained. “On the exterior of the fence, the heart, the vines and roses symbolise the world of peace and hope.”

Principal Sean Hill said the festival theme really resonated with the school’s multicultural community and the “events occurring around the world at the present time”.

“SALA is not only an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, but a wonderful way to connect with our local community and celebrate the learning and teaching at St Gabriel’s,” he added.
