Fun in the sun
Schools
St John the Apostle Parish School, Christie’s Beach, held its second annual Walk a Mile fundraiser run in August.
Students from all year levels walked around the school with different size containers of water depending on their age to raise money for a Dominican charity and Catholic Charities.
The aim of the event is to educate students about social justice and ethical issues while empowering them to change the lives of people who are less fortunate than they are.
Annie O’Neill, representing Catholic Charities, said the weather was kind and the sun shone brightly even though many of the students ended up wearing more of the water than carrying it.
“Everyone had fun for a good cause,” she said.
