Acknowledging the colour of Lent, the girls were invited to wear purple on March 11 and many had fun with their outfits.

Junior Social Justice leaders spoke passionately at the weekly liturgy, inspiring the students to heed the Caritas theme of ‘Be More’. Based on the words of Oscar Romero, ‘Aspire not to have more, but to be more’, leaders talked about the responsibility we all must show to help those who struggle with poverty and conflict.

Organisers said it was a wonderful way to begin fundraising for the annual Lenten appeal, with $743 being raised on the day.

Other creative fundraising events being planned by students include sponsored walks, a Day of Silence and the collection of bottles for recycling.

The students have also taken home a Project Compassion box to individually raise more funds with the support of their families.
