Long-standing principal of Mercedes College, Peter Daw, has announced he will retire at the end of the second school term.
Mr Daw has had a significant impact on Catholic education in South Australia, dedicating 30 years as a principal at various schools, including leading Mercedes for the past 15 years.
During his time he has overseen many changes at the college, including the successful transition from the Mercy Sister ownership and establishing a unique constitution. There have been several improvements to building and resources and Mr Daw has worked tirelessly to build the global reputation of Mercedes as a school of excellence through the International Baccalaureate and Council of International Schools.
Prior to joining Mercedes Mr Daw supported principals from 27 schools in his role as the inaugural principal consultant for Catholic Education SA, assisting them with whole-of-school planning and development, including in curriculum and evaluation. He was previously principal at Thomas More and Mt Carmel colleges.
The search for a new principal is currently underway.
