
Brighton parishioner and West Adelaide Football Club legend John ‘Jack’ Lynch was a true gentlemen.
Born in Broken Hill, he had a long career with West Adelaide, playing 149 league games and representing SA 16 times. He was admitted to the South Australian National Football League Hall of Fame in 2006.
Jack was also a dedicated tennis player and coach. He mentored countless youngsters at Dover Square, where a court bears his name, and he served as the club’s president.
Jack and his wife Ann moved into the Brighton parish in 1958 and he was a very active volunteer in the parish.
He was a loyal worker at Chrysler and then Mitsubishi.
Jack is survived by Ann and children Peter, Michael, Elizabeth, Anthony, Margaret and Robert, as well as 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
