Not content to sit at home, he decided to establish a ministry to the blind and vision impaired.

Together with sighted Glenelg parishioner Peter Sandercock, Deacon Pat established a support group that meets on the last Friday of each month in St Dominic’s Hall.

Deacon Pat, who is legally blind, said the group had a social dimension but at the same time sought to nourish the spiritual needs of participants.

Anyone who is blind or vision impaired, or experiencing the early stages of vision loss, is welcome to join the group for fellowship and support.

The meetings are held at 17 High Street, Glenelg, from 10.30am to 12pm with the option of attending midday Mass in the adjacent Our Lady of Victories Church.

Enquiries can be directed to Pat on 0431 984 678 or Peter on 0416 153 577.
