The Young Men of God Adelaide movement recently hosted its men’s conference, The Shepherd’s Call, bringing together more than 127 men and 10 priests for a powerful day of faith, prayer, brotherhood and renewal.

Held at Cardijn College, the conference invited men of all ages to reflect on Christ as the Good Shepherd and to consider how they are being called to follow Him more deeply in their daily lives. With the average age of attendees being 29, it was especially encouraging to see so many young men seeking to grow in their faith, while also being joined by men from older generations who came to share in the day.

Throughout the conference, participants heard inspiring talks, joined in small group discussions, took part in Adoration and Confession, prayed the Rosary, and celebrated Mass together. The presence of 10 priests was a great blessing, especially during Confession and Adoration, where many men had the opportunity to encounter God’s mercy in a personal and powerful way.

The day was also marked by great hospitality, including an amazing morning tea, lunch and time for fellowship. The atmosphere throughout the conference was filled with fraternity, encouragement and hope, as men encouraged one another to keep fighting the good fight and to continue their walk of faith with Christ.

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many men saying it was their favourite conference yet. One attendee, an older man, shared how encouraging it was for him to see other older men present, and how wonderful it was that the conference welcomed men of all generations to share in the experience.

The conference also highlighted the importance of authentic Catholic leadership, sacrifice and mission. Men were challenged to listen to the voice of Christ, to grow in holiness, and to take up their role as faithful witnesses in their families, parishes, workplaces and communities.

YMG Adelaide expressed gratitude to all priests, speakers, volunteers, sponsors and attendees who helped make the day possible. The Shepherd’s Call was a reminder that Christ continues to seek, call and lead His people, and that men today are still being invited to follow Him with courage, humility and love.

Keep an eye out for next year’s conference through the YMG Adelaide website and social media pages. Young men aged 18 to 35 are also warmly invited to join YMG and become part of this growing brotherhood of faith.
