A number of celebrations have been held over the past few months since the launch of the church’s centenary year in April, with each month featuring a special theme.

On September 8 the parish celebrated all those past and present parishioners who were baptised, confirmed, celebrated first Holy Communion or were married at Sacred Heart Church.

Those who attended received a special blessing from parish priest Fr Santosh Nazareth CSC. After the Mass, morning tea was provided in the parish hall so that all could
catch up and share their special memories.

A PowerPoint presentation was shown featuring a selection of photos from past weddings and first Communions. It also included a short black and white movie of Molly Taylor and Ivan Oswald’s wedding on January 1 1940.

The centenary celebrations will culminate with a special Mass at 9.30am on Sunday November 24 with the Archbishop of Adelaide, Patrick O’Regan, assisted by priests from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and the Congregation of the Holy Cross as well as the provincials of both these congregations.

Invitations have been sent to religious brothers and sisters and lay people who have ministered in the parish in previous years, as well as dignitaries and public figures.

A warm welcome is extended to any past parishioners who would like to attend the Mass and a light lunch to be served afterwards.

For catering purposes, please contact either the Parish Office on 8346 3901, Mary Hemmings 0417 871 904 or Peter Oswald 0402 841 270.
