Maitland Vinnies shop blessed
Local
The St Vincent de Paul Maitland shop made the short move across the road last year, re-opening in a fresh new space.
A re-dedication and blessing was held on February 16 to mark the new era.
The ceremony commenced with Ian Harradine, of Wurrtoo Cultural Services, performing the Welcome to County and Smoking Ceremony.
Archbishop Patrick O’Regan conducted the blessing ceremony, with Fr George Ochola Oluoch leading the Liturgy of the Word.
Archbishop O’Regan’s blessing of the space emphasised the desire to create an environment where individuals operate with dignity and respect, a sentiment that was further reinforced through the blessing of the shop with holy water.

The ceremony concluded with a few words shared by Fraser Ellis MP, Member for Narungga, and an address from Evelyn O’Loughlin, CEO of the Society. She highlighted the importance of the support conferences and shops provide, and thanked volunteers and members.
The ceremony also included a plaque unveiling and ribbon cutting to mark the official opening.
