After many years of teaching Eileen studied in Rome in the area of spirituality and formation. This was the beginning of a significant change in her ministry. Eileen was appointed director of novices in 1977 and from then her work in formation and spirituality was set in motion.
Eileen was very committed to the spirituality ministry. People from all walks of life appreciated her gracious and gentle listening in her role as spiritual director. Many would recall the Aldgate prayer days which she organised and the numerous prayer days and retreats she conducted for the next 30 years. She welcomed every opportunity to share friendship, service and prayer with the Josephite Associates.
Eileen was always known as a gracious and grace-filled woman who went about her work quietly and conscientiously. She was a very faithful Religious. Her love of her God was evident in the way she lived her life. Her faithfulness to prayer was exemplary. Eileen was an avid reader and gleaned much knowledge from books especially those on spirituality. Her life showed a quiet wisdom which benefited many.
Eileen will be missed by the Sisters of St Joseph, her family and all who have experienced her guidance. They are grateful that her life of love, care, service and prayer will live on in the lives and memories of those who knew her.Jump to next article
