Fresh look at Australian saint

As the nation prepares to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the canonisation of Mary MacKillop on October 17, budding young artists from Tenison Woods Catholic School, Richmond, have produced their own unique visual interpretations of Australia’s first and only canonised saint.

Leadership role for local Josephite

As Sr Brigette Sipa takes on her new role as CentreWest regional leader of the Sisters of St Joseph, she will draw on her many years of experience as a school principal and director of Mission at Mary MacKillop Place in North Sydney.


Feast day at Kensington and beyond

The feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop on August 8 will be celebrated by Archbishop Patrick O’Regan in St Joseph’s Chapel, Kensington, which was established by Mary MacKillop in 1876.


Rosemary Taylor AM - mother of a thousand children

Rosemary Taylor, the Adelaide woman responsible for evacuating more than 4000 orphans during the Vietnam War, died on New Year’s Eve aged 81. At her insistence, a simple funeral Mass was held at the Holy Spirit Church, Seacombe Gardens, but her life and death has touched people all over the world.


Sisters celebrate jubilees

Three South Australian Sisters of St Joseph were among 19 Sisters who gathered from across Australia and New Zealand on January 13 at Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney, to celebrate 60 years of religious profession.
