Knit one, purl one

People

Every Wednesday morning you will hear the sound of knitting needles clacking together – and plenty of laughter – as members of the Blackwood parish’s Knit and Natter Group get together.

The group has been meeting for many years – some of the members have been part of the parish for almost 50 years – and during this time they have created thousands of items, most of which are donated to the local Vinnies conference.

From making teddy bears to knitted rugs, and sometimes sewing garments, the members meet for a couple of hours to work on their projects and as the name of the group suggests, catch up on life’s events!

As the weather begins to warm there has been a switch to ‘summer-weight wool’ and the group has been busy stockpiling items for a trading table that will be held after the 10am Mass at Our Lady of the Way Church, Laffers Road, Glenalta, on Sunday November 20.

All proceeds from the sale of items will be donated to Vinnies.
