Isaac Saunders has been named Marcellin Campus’ Apprentice of the Year for 2021.
Starting at Cardijn College as part of the Head Start program for Year 10 students in 2019, Isaac quickly showed he was extremely studious and always looked to achieve his best. He studied his Certificate III in Electrotechnology with MTC Training and is employed at Waterman Electrical Solutions.
At the Marcellin graduation night, principal Dr Paul Rijken said Isaac displayed the Marist characteristics in all his dealings with the college.
He built strong relationships with his peers and staff, and proved to be a wonderful ambassador representing the college at open nights and also at the SA Training Awards, Dr Rijken said.
For the first time in its history, St Patrick’s Technical College has named joint winners of The Max Davids Award – Apprentice of the Year.
Named in recognition of the significant contribution made by Max Davids in the founding and development of the college, the prestigious award was presented to Metals and Engineering student Riley Read and Construction student Samuel Ivanoff at the graduation dinner last year.
Both apprentices were recognised and celebrated for their outstanding academic and trade achievements.
Other award winners included Austin Kember, who was acknowledged for his outstanding studies during 2021. He received the Automotive Student of the Year Award and Principal’s Award for the most outstanding campus-based student.

“Austin is someone who values the opportunities that he has had through his education, work experience and trade training,”
Mr Deptula said.
“He shows immense gratitude for the support he has received as a student at the college and of his family. He is a very worthy recipient of this year’s Principal’s Award for student of the year.”
During the evening 19 individual awards were presented to outstanding students and apprentices in their respective trade areas, as part of the college’s annual Awards Program valued at more than $10,000 thanks to the generosity and support of sponsors.
All graduating students received their Year 12 certificates.
