Building projects underway
Local
Our Lady of the Rosary Church at Prospect has been undergoing major maintenance and repair work in recent months.
Taking advantage of its closure due to COVID-19 restrictions, work has been undertaken inside and outside the church and has included restoration to internal walls, painting, repointing, underpinning and roof repairs.
North Adelaide-Prospect parish priest Fr Paul Rankin OP said disruption to worship had been kept to a minimum, with the church hall used for Masses for a short time.
He added it had been wonderful to utilise the professional skills of some parishioners during the project, including Max Hodby, Bob Barrett, David Romaldi, Bill Blunden and David O’Loughlin. Jeremy Whitehead from WTM Constructions has been pivotal in the project management of the restoration.
The $400,000 project has been funded through parish fundraising and savings.
Some of the other works being undertaken in the Archdiocese have included painting at Our Lady of Victories Church, Glenelg; continuing the construction of a parish hall alongside St Matthew’s Church in Bridgewater; renovations to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary at Stirling East in the Adelaide Hills; and repairs and restoration to the belfry at St Michael’s Church at Clare.
