Students and staff have marked a significant milestone in the construction of a $60 million school campus in northern Adelaide with an official topping-out ceremony.

As the building’s structural frame and transition enters the final construction phase at Xavier College, Riverlea Park, student leaders scribbled the college’s values – Respect, Understanding, Affection and Humour (RUAH) – onto the structure to create a symbolic time capsule embedding the college’s identity into the new foundations.

Xavier College currently supports more than 2,800 students across its campuses, with numbers expected to grow significantly once the education establishment opens in early 2027.

The campus will initially welcome students from Reception to Year 6 before progressively expanding to offer a complete academic pathway through to Year 12.

To-date, more than 29,000 construction hours have been completed, with the ground, first and second floor slabs finalised, along with the central elevator structure and structural walls, highlighting the significant progress achieved on site.

The campus has been developed to support families in one of South Australia’s fastest-growing residential areas, with construction due for completion this December.

“Xavier College Riverlea Park represents a significant investment in high-quality Catholic education and will provide students with inspiring learning environments, excellent facilities and opportunities to thrive and belong,” Catholic Education South Australia Executive Director, Dr Neil McGoran, said.
