Crowds turn out for popular priest in Pooraka
Local
There were huge celebrations in Pooraka recently with a popular priest celebrating the 25th anniversary of his ordination.
Archbishop Patrick O’Regan, Vicar General Dean Marin and many priests from the Archdiocese packed out the Pooraka Vietnamese church to celebrate with Fr My Tran Trong.
Fr My opened the Mass by reflecting that he was ‘a priest and a sinner’ but he stood there to show everyone that ‘God can do the impossible’.

Fr My took care to thank Archbishop Faulkner for ordaining him in 2001 and thanked Archbishop Philip Wilson for allowing him to minister across Asia where he worked with vulnerable people exposed to leprosy and HIV as well as helping people unable to speak and hear. He saw this as a highlight of his time as a priest Fr My said.
There was a strong family presence at the Mass with Fr My’s mother presenting Archbishop O’Regan with a garland of flowers while Fr My asked the congregation to pray for his father who had been in hospital for the last month and was unable to attend the big day.
