On April 14, approximately 85 clergy and 500 people attended the Chrism Mass to witness the sacramental oils being consecrated and blessed. The Mass, which includes a procession of the oils (pictured), is an important moment to reflect during Holy Week. Celebrated by Archbishop Patrick O’Regan, it was also a time for priests to seek renewal of their commitment to priestly service. The Chrism Mass takes place shortly before the Easter Triduum because the oil of the catechumens and chrism will be used for Christian initiation during the paschal feast. The consecration and blessing of oils is one of the Church’s final preparations for the Paschal Triduum. During the Chrism Mass, representatives from throughout the archdiocese collect oils to be taken to their parishes and communities.

A Memorial Mass for Pope Francis was celebrated at Adelaide's St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on Sunday April 27. Archbishop Patrick O’Regan presided at the Mass where the faithful joined community and religious leaders in praying for the repose of the soul of the Holy Father.
