Hundreds of people praying the Rosary as they walk together along the streets of the city will be a feature of this month’s Marian Procession.

According to Luke’s Gospel, it is immediately after her conversation with the Angel Gabriel that Mary sets off ‘with haste’ to visit her kinswoman Elizabeth in the hill country of Judaea. The beautiful image chosen for this year’s Marian Procession features the encounter between the two women – the older woman heavily pregnant and the younger still in the earliest stages of pregnancy.
The annual Marian Procession is coming to the heart of the city after being held in the South Parklands and the Adelaide Showgrounds in recent years.
Almost 1500 faithful representing Catholic parishes and 13 multicultural communities throughout the Archdiocese gathered to honour Mary, Mother of the Church, at the annual Marian Procession.
While inclement weather forced last month’s Marian Procession and Peace Rally to be moved indoors, it couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of more than 1000 faithful who gathered to honour Mary, Mother of the Church.
The annual Marian Procession was held for the first time at the Adelaide Showgrounds, Wayville, on Sunday May 16.
