The Gabriel expansion completed late last year provides learning areas for Year 10 students while the Faulkner Centre has been used by Year 11 and 12 students since 2020.
Principal Corey Tavella said the college had experienced a 36 per cent growth in student numbers since 2018 and was the “school of choice” in the north.
“The opening and blessing was a formal acknowledgement of the growth and success of Thomas More College,” he said.
Two pieces of contemporary artwork of the buildings’ patrons were commissioned. They feature St Gabriel, the revered Archangel in Scripture; and the late Archbishop Leonard Faulkner, friend of Catholic education and Thomas More College.
“These two figures, though different in their roles, share a mission of spreading the Gospel – a meaningful inspiration for our students as they shape their own futures and to always be the best versions of themselves, no matter where their lives may take them and by whom they are inspired,” Mr Tavella said.
Archbishop Patrick O’Regan sprinkled holy water throughout the new buildings after the opening liturgy.
