New principal for Saint Ignatius'
Schools
Saint Ignatius’ College has announced the appointment of South Australian education leader Lauren Brooks as its new principal, commencing in 2024.
Currently deputy principal at Pedare Christian College, Mrs Brooks will become the second female principal in Saint Ignatius’ College’s 72-year history.
College chair Sean Keenihan said Mrs Brooks would bring a wealth of experience across R-12 education, with executive leadership roles in junior, middle and senior schools in South Australia and the Northern Territory. With a Master of Educational Leadership from the Australian Catholic University, she has implemented staff development and training models, led mentoring programs to support early career teachers, and is known for enhancing exceptional school cultures that create an environment for staff and students to thrive.

“Mrs Brooks is a dynamic and contemporary educator with a passion for innovative learning and programs to enrich student and staff outcomes,” said Mr Keenihan.
“We look forward to welcoming Mrs Brooks and her family into the Ignatian community and to the future growth of the college under her leadership.”
Mrs Brooks said she was excited to join the Saint Ignatius’ community and to take part in the 475-year-old Jesuit faith tradition of “igniting the hearts of students with compassion and their minds with possibilities through a love of life-long learning”.
She will join the college in October, working alongside Saint Ignatius’ first appointed female principal, Barbara Watkins, as part of the transition process. Mr Keenihan thanked Ms Watkins, a highly esteemed Catholic schools’ leader, for steering the college during the appointment process following the retirement of Peter Coffey as principal last year.
