The important contribution students can make to the growth of South Australia was one of the key messages from Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, when she visited Xavier College recently.
As part of Ms Adamson’s goal to visit every secondary school across South Australia, she attended the Gawler Belt campus on March 10.
Addressing the Year 12 assembly, the Governor spoke of future career pathways for youth, the importance of citizenship, and the contribution students make to SA.
Following the assembly, Ms Adamson, who was accompanied by her husband Rod Bunten, was guest of honour at a morning tea.
The Governor then formally presented the two campus captains – Keeley Hurst and Zachary Sadiwnyk – with their 2023 Year 12 jackets.
Xavier principal, Mark Flaherty, said the Governor’s visit was a special event on the college calendar.
“Our community felt blessed to have Her Excellency take the time to learn about our college, our values of Respect, Understanding, Affection and Humour (RUAH) and genuinely engage with our wonderful students and our dedicated staff,” he said.
