The students’ aim was to bring joy to the residents by connecting with them and sharing the spirit of Christmas through song and dance.

While it was Year 4 students who took the boxes of joy to the nursing home, the whole school community contributed by making small gifts of peace, love, and joy. The boxes were individually decorated, and the gifts made by students from Reception to Year 6 adorned and filled the boxes.

Mrs Sharland said the students learned to work together, rely on each other, and help one another.

“The residents of Charles Young nursing home were as overwhelmed as we were,” she said.

“It was a privilege to be welcomed into their home and meet with them and bring joy to their lives.”
