Neighbourly love
Schools
‘Who is our neighbour?’ was the theme for two banners created by students at St Joseph’s School Renmark earlier this year.
Visual Arts teacher Greg Reeks and APRIM Chrissie Grocke worked closely with the Year 6 students to help them find meaning and purpose to their religious education by making banners supporting this year’s theme of the Port Pirie Diocese.
“The banners are an integral part of how the school incorporates visual arts into religion,” Mr Reeks said.
“It helps to make religion the important thread that ties together the students’ learning throughout the year and integrates it into other subjects.”
Already the banners have been on display at the school’s Harmony Day, St Joseph’s Day and Anti-Bullying Day events and featured at the Our Lady of the River parish picnic held at Kingston-on-Murray and Ash Wednesday celebrations.
