Passport to learning
Schools
There was cause for celebration when 56 students from St Francis de Sales College, Mount Barker graduated from the Children’s University program.
The Children’s University Australasia and Africa (IO) provides educational experiences outside normal school hours to students aged 5 to 14. Activities on offer are diverse but could include attending a museum, theatre, school clubs or sports groups.
All learning experiences have a tangible link to a university course, thus fostering the child’s ambitions to consider participation in higher education.
The students log their hours for each extra-curricular activity in their Passport to Learning and once their target is reached they are able to graduate.
Since joining the program in 2015, St Francis de Sales College has had 155 students graduate from the Children’s University.
This year 34 Catholic schools were involved in the program.
