Silver for solidarity

Mercedes College students and staff wore a silver ribbon on June 12 – World Refugee Day – to show their support for those who suffer injustice and discrimination.
The Silver for Solidarity Day initiative was developed by some Year 11 students who also wanted an opportunity to acknowledge the Black Lives Matter rallies.
As they explained, “the colour silver reflects back any energy given out, whether it is positive or negative”.
“We are aware that there are many struggles in our world at the moment and that we need to shine a light on respect, dignity and celebrating differences.
“This day was a time to reflect on how we can say no all to injustices and forms of racism.”
