Serving a worthy cause

Acts of service go beyond the classroom at St Patrick’s Technical College with the senior secondary school committed to helping those in need.
College staff held a cook up evening, creating more than 100 meals for Fred’s Van food service in Elizabeth, operated by St Vincent de Paul Society.
Through workplace giving, staff donated food items and raised $245 to purchase ingredients for main meals and desserts.
General manager Student Wellbeing Michael Gauci said the evening was an opportunity for staff members to take off their professional hats and connect as friends in the kitchen, while supporting the vulnerable in the community.

“Connecting beyond the classroom as colleagues, and ultimately as friends, builds good relationships and most importantly makes a difference in the wellbeing of employees,” he said.
“At St Patrick’s Technical College, staff are proud of our strong working relationships and this emanates into our classrooms, encouraging a positive environment for our students.
“Contributing to this cause has helped provide for the fundamental basic needs of people in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, one of the highest need areas with many families struggling to put regular nutritious meals on the table.
“Serving our community is a worthy cause which we are committed to and proud of as staff of the college.”
