When it opened its doors on January 30 1989 the Golden Grove college had only 20 Year 8 students and 12 Year 9 students enrolled.

Turn the clock forward 30 years and now there are more than 740 students from Years 7 to 12.

Principal Andrew Baker said the college’s 30th birthday was a significant milestone in the relatively short history of the school.

“We enjoy facilities and opportunities that the first 32 Gleeson College students could only have dreamt of,” he said.

“On this our 30th birthday, let us commit to honouring all of those people who have built this school by making the most of every opportunity, by engaging in our learning, by treating each other with kindness – and above all – by being proud to be members of this fantastic school.”
