Scriptures come to life in the classroom

Cute and cuddly, Lou Lou the lamb was the centre of attention at Christian Brothers College’s junior school last month, but the woolly visitor also helped to reinforce a good message from the Bible.

Director of Early Years Learning, Sean Carr, brought his eight week old lamb into school for the day to provide visual support for the teachings of the story of the Good Shepherd and looking for the lost sheep. The junior school children also watched a video and as part of Godly play they later used clay to retell this story.

Mr Carr said Lou Lou was a great prop for the story and other stories in scripture about sheep, and students from the Community Children’s Centre and the Junior School loved being able to help bottle feed and pat the lamb.

He hoped they would think about scripture whenever they see a lamb in the future.
