At a Mass of Thanksgiving held on Sunday November 26, the Salesian Provincial Fr Greg Chambers was presented with a ‘symbolic gift’ to mark the Order’s association with Brooklyn Park dating back to 1943.

A beautiful monstrance was unveiled and will be delivered by the Salesians to their parish of Saint John Bosco, Nasinu, in the Fiji Islands which was officially inaugurated on November 19.

In return, the Salesians presented the Brooklyn Park/Richmond parish with a framed portrait of St John Bosco which will serve as a reminder of their 74-year association with the congregation.

The Salesian Fathers and Brothers who have been resident at Brooklyn Park are moving to various Salesian communities – at Gawler, Lysterfield in Victoria, with one going into permanent aged care at Calvary Flora McDonald, Cowandilla.

Fr Peter Zwaans has been appointed the parish priest of Brooklyn Park/Richmond.
