Warm welcome for Narelle

The Barossa Valley Catholic community gave a warm welcome to its newest member last month.
Jason Balk has been a well-respected member of Our Lady of the Valley Church, Nuriootpa, for the past 35 years. In March 2020 he married Narelle (nee Jantke) who lived in the Riverland before moving with her family to Tanunda 20 years ago.
They both have disabilities and are supported in their home by care workers.
Narelle, raised in the Lutheran faith, wished to support Jason and become a Catholic. She has been in the RCIA program for the past four months. On February 15, Narelle was admitted fully into the Catholic faith with Fr My Tran presiding.
The community welcomed Narelle with support from friends in Adelaide and the Barossa Valley.
RCIA coordinators Geoff and Chris Redden said it was a very special journey for all involved.
