The buzz of electric hair shavers could be heard across Christian Brothers College Seniors Campus on March 7 when more than 25 students stepped up to have their head shaved as part of The World's Greatest Shave.

The Leukaemia Foundation runs the annual initiative as a fundraiser to help achieve its goal of zero lives lost to blood cancer by 2035.
Over the past six years the CBC community has raised more than $100,000 for the cause. This year, CBC was the highest school fundraiser in South Australia, raising more than $19,000.
The event gathered momentum after Year 12 student leaders made the event part of their portfolio of activities.
Captain of Community Oscar Klopsteins was responsible for organising and driving this year’s event, held across the entire school, with support from a passionate team of CBC ‘Whitecoats’.
“’There is something empowering and uplifting seeing everyone gather as a community standing in solidarity for those with cancer, making our previous hard work pay off,” Oscar said.
Year 12 student Edward Thornton has participated every year since Year 7, earning a certificate from the Leukaemia Foundation in acknowledgement of his dedication.
Ten staff members also braved the snippers.
“I feel liberated,” said teacher George Bryant.
“We provide a liberating education here at CBC, it’s one of our touchstones and here I am, the embodiment of liberation.”
Sean Carr had his impressive beard shaved off for the first time in 42 years: “I feel very clean shaven,” Mr Carr said.
“I’m going to have to go and buy a razor now. I’m very impressed and really proud of this school for hitting the milestone of $15,000.”
The mass hair removal couldn’t have happened without the generous support of Fandi Scissorhands barbers who donated their time during Ramadan, reflecting the inclusive community at CBC.
Old scholar Osama Obeid was one of the barbers donating time to support the event.
