Archbishop Patrick O’Regan officiated at the anniversary Mass with parish priest Fr Lancy D’Silva, Monsignor Ian Dempsey and Fr Leon Czechowicz concelebrating.
The celebrations and much reminiscing continued over lunch at the ROAB Lions Hall organised by the Ladies Guild.
Prior to lunch, a commemorative book Echoes from the walls – Memories of the Kangaroo Island Catholic Parish 1954-2024 was launched by the editor Helen Mumford and Archbishop O’Regan.
A sponge cake made by Maree Perkins was cut and shared at the lunch and coffee cups were sold to mark the occasion.
The celebration was made even more special by lots of the parishioners contributing – from cleaning the church to bringing food and taking part in the Mass.
