Members of the St Alphonsa, St Euphrasia and St Mary’s parishes gathered for the Stations of the Cross with more than 80 youth playing a significant role in the re-enactment of the Passion and Death of Christ. The Passion Liturgy served to remind attendees of Christ’s endless love for humanity as He carried the world’s sins on the Cross of Salvation.

Speaking in Malayalam, parish priests Fr Ajith Antony narrated the Way of the Cross which was followed by the homily from Fr Siby Kurian. The community then welcomed Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Fr Dean Marin, to give the final blessing.

Organisers said the success of the event was a testament to the ‘powerful role that faith and unity can play in bringing a community together, regardless of challenges or difficulties’.

They added that Adelaide’s Syro-Malabar Community was a ‘shining example of the transformative power of faith and belief in Jesus’.
