More than 10,900 public votes were cast for 295 businesses across the 11 categories in this year’s awards, announced last month by Norwood Payneham and St Peters mayor Robert Bria.

In addition to the honour, the museum will receive digital advertising and business advisory services valued at $2000.

Museum director Sr Mary Ryan RSJ said the award belonged to “all who have made Mary MacKillop Museum the inspiring, welcoming, happy place it is”.

The awards are supported by Solstice Media, the publisher of InDaily, CityMag and SALIFE.

Solstice Media’s Jim Plouffe, who also judged the awards, said the two new categories this year – Best Arts and Culture/Entertainment Experience, and Best Professional Service – reflected the diversity of experiences in the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters.

He said the Mary MacKillop Museum offered an interactive and hands-on experience to inspire and educate patrons of all ages.

“Including this category allows for institutions like a museum to be in the mix,” he said.

“And it’s great that a quintessential SA experience like the Mary MacKillop Museum might get some more exposure.”

The museum at 19 Phillips Street, Kensington, is open six days a week (not Mondays) from 10am to 4pm.
