The Blackwood team prevailed after a tie with perennial winner, Henley Beach, on March 1.

Both parishes had an aggregate of 97 Stableford points from its best three players so the result went to a countback on the second nine holes.

Ideal weather, even if windy, greeted players for the 12.30pm shotgun start. Rains over summer had promoted fairway growth and proved challenging for the 72 players including six clergy.

Competition for the Dean Travers Cup (best Stableford score) was again very keen but Gary Parkin won with 39 points from Peter Liedig (37) and Shane Hodby (36).

Fr Germano Baiguini won the Archbishop Leonard Faulkner Trophy for clergy with 31 points from Fr Richard Morris.

Helen Baker finished first in the women’s competition and also paired with husband Rob to take out ‘best husband and wife’ team.
